Rainy Day Girl

Sad as a story, my rainy day girl Sat on her hands in a saccharine world

Thursday, January 30, 2003

Meh. I've been really lazy in updating this thing the past few weeks. Busy Lah. Ahem.

Anyhoo. Today was scheduled as Finish All Goddamn Freelancing Articles Day aka Selling My Soul to Magazine Advertisers Day. Sheesh. What the hell happened to Editorial Intergrity? It's the real world baby. WHAT Editorial Intergrity?! How it works is:

1. Kiss Ass
2. Write Kiss Ass articles
3. Kiss some more Ass
4. Repeat till soul is totally leached and Corporate Ass is sated
5. Wash in hydrochloric acid

Ah well. My mantra is: Brisbane, Melbourne, Ski-Trip.

In other news, I'm a happy Bunnie. *beams*

When I'm Thinking About You - The Sundays

over the rooftops a plane in the sky
beat of a bass drum cars passing me by
under a bridge dark then back into light
a river of raincoats and a forest of faces
still for a moment then red into green
slow shuffling shoes whisper sight unseen
row upon row of houses return an empty stare
let the daydream for a little while longer

ah.. yeah...
hope I’ll never wake
when I’m thinking about you
(yeah) hope I’ll never wake
cos now I’m thinking about you

two-minute hailstorm then melts into rain
(oh) sing me a rainbow it’s sunny again
swallows overhead while the traffic snarls below
could I (could I) keep dreaming for a little while longer

hope I’ll never wake
when I’m thinking about you
so that you know - I never want to wake
cos now I’m thinking about you

when you’re searching your soul
when you’re searching for pleasure
how often, pain is all you find
but when you’re coasting along and nobody’s trying too hard
you can turn around and like where you are

(Yeah and) I hope I never wake
when I’m thinking about you
and I close my eyes (dear)
now I’ll never never wake
why should I stop thinking about you

What an amazing day. Absofuckinglutely awesome.

Suede was mind-blowing. Pure rapture, pure joy. Ecstatic fumbling and euphoric soaring. If I die in my sleep tonight, I will die content. If you see me the next few days, don't mind my dorky blissed out smile. I can ride tonight's high for weeks to come.

Song of the Day: Perfect Day - Lou Reed

The Matrix Reloaded [Thanks Jead! Yes, I had to wipe the drool off my keyboard]

When stickers go bad! aka What happens when medical advice stickers are misappropriated aka Very Fucking Funny, Smart Ass
Ah SHITES. Today, while at Suntec City, I bumped into two people I know and both asked me if I was there for the Avril Lavinge concert. WHAT THE BLEEDING FUCK?!?! I have never felt so insulted. *harrumphs indignantly*

In less appalling news, I pretended to be an NUS Arts student today. Much fun. Of course, fun factor kinda triples 'cos I'm not actually an NUS Arts students. Sat in on a Foreign Policy lecture. Woohoo!

Word of the Day: Glokenspiel (I love the way it rrrrrollls off the tongue)

The Good Girl's pretty good. For a flick with Jennifer Aniston, it's pretty non-mainstream. Jake Gyllenhaal has really sexy, intense eyes. Yummy.

May I submit that people who hold long conversations on their mobiles during a movie be hauled wedgie-first out of the theatre, stripped, tied to a communal Stone-the-Inconsiderate-Asshole Pole, painted green and neon pink (in polka-dots) and have squids on speed inserted up where the sun don't shine. Then after the movie is over, the cinema patrons whose viewing experience was disrupted by his life-or-death need to answer and hold a conversation during the movie can file pass and throw leftover popcorn at him and jab him with cattle prods.

Seriously, we should consider this. Or ban inconsiderate assholes. Get them to fill out a form or something. Qn 1: Are you an inconsiderate asshole? Y/N. Qn 2: Is green and neon pink your colour? Y/N. And to be sure, we should just ask Qn 3: In case of a cinema lynching, please rate how much youlike being stripped naked, painted, tied to a pole and prodded with electrified objects. 1 - for absolutely detest that 10 - for Yeah, baby bring it on!

Stupid people should never be allowed to be seen in public or watch movies. It's what those straight to VHS/VCD type shows are for. I'm sure the whole point of them being created in the first place is to entertain Stupid People. It's a niche/specialised market or something. Sheesh.

Phwoar. Last night at Zouk was really excellent! Sister Bliss was fan-fucking-tastic. Woohoo! Plus she was quite a hot chick too. I was right in front of the DJ console looking at her spin - she looked liked she was having a really good time. And I did too. Amazing stuff!

Yep Yep.

In other news, Hero was a disappointment. But Tony Leung is a sexy fox and so is Maggie Cheung. *woof!* Stylistically, the movie was lovely. Sets, scenery and costumes were very breathtaking. I just wish that they spent less effort on the lovely stylish poncying and nancying about and dealt a little more with the script and plot. Ah well.

This is really excellent. Very impressive stuff: What if LOTR had been written by someone else?

She's the kind of girl who likes to do it stand up
From the back or anyway you want it, love
From the top if you keep it going all night
You're as good as the next for a fun time

Lookie here like a rabbit on the dancefloor
Party girl like you comin' in the back door
"C'mon boy, give it good, give an encore"
Never leave a hungry sister begging one more

You keep it good and she'll beat you at your own game
Flip a switch and she's crying out her own name
Keep a lady happy as a little lamb
Give her head and you're riding on a sure shot

ARGH

Monday, January 13, 2003

Groggy, disorientated and lethargic. I have the beginnings of a bad-ass flu. Yay! *blinks away headache* Sandpaper throat, sticky mouth and eyelids glued down from crusty-dried secretions make for a great start to the week.

At least I'll be forced to stay home and read and do work.

I am Jane's raging viral infection.
I am Jane's desert-sand throat.
I am Jane's vicious green phlegm.
I am Jane's masochistic wallowings of despair.

Hmmm... sleeplessness. Tis 6am.

Good Morning World goodbye you

Grey reluctant skies
Early morning sighs
Smoke stained fingers reach for the coffee cup
Barely remembered dreams tinge the edge of consciousness
As the morning air kisses
Your soft cheek
Where do you look to
In the tentative blue of dawn
Who do you seek
With your veiled far-away gaze
Lavender shadows dance across
Furrows in your face
The shadow-play of doubt or is it merely me?
Fingers meet and part in a reunion of sensation
Skittering a random beat on cold milky marble
Over coffee and cake, we sit together
We have never felt so alone.

Wahahahahaha!!!!! OMG! I don't believe this! So... how much would you pay? *wink wink nudge nudge*
"Hi, my name is Sheralyn" [your cue: Hi Sheralyn]
"I... I... I have a problem. I... I'm a... I'm a bookaholic" *breaks down and cries* [your cue: sympathetic cooing]

I just bought The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Sarah and Fight Club... all this week. All good and fine, except I have no time, brains or money to finish all the goddamn books. Am in the middle of three books as it is... need... to ...fight... compulsive...urge...to buy ...more ...books ...than mentally... capable to...digest. Gargh!

I'm becoming a bookshelf poseur-wannabe. *sobs*
Retail Therapy Chapter 2

I bought me a dress from about today. A grey paisely number. It's Laura Ashely meets Lolita meets Slutty Schoolgirl. It's sooooooo super see-thru. *gleeps!*

I may just wear it in my room and parade around... sigh...

Was at Revolution yesterday at Oosh. Haven't been to a gig in ages and ages. Met up with Jass and Mag and people I haven't seen in eons! Some have changed and some haven't

There are places I remember, all my life, though some have changed - Beatles

Ah. The gig was pretty good. Stayed through Livonia and for a couple of Astreal songs. I love Losing You. Had to leave early cause I was feeling super sleepy.

My Freelance work is going nowhere, my laptop is still fucked up, I haven't reformatted my piece o' shit computers, and I'm still ploughing through my various books.

My brain must have up and left for vacation while I was sleeping one night. No note, no goodbye. *sniff*

I wonder when it'll be back.

Tuesday, January 07, 2003

Er, hello. Guess what I did today. I finished my article. Yes, for the third time. Sheesh. My muse up and died on me. And I've been coaxing her back to life all afternoon. Tisn't working. Anyone with a spare Muse to sell? I'll give you two pink mushrooms and a kissie.

Got this off Nat's blog

You are most like:
Aragorn (Stryder) Son of Arathorn

Aragorn's decisions often seem against conventional wisdom, but he knows what to do and why it must be done, regardless of the cost.
You are good at making contingency plans and come up wiith efficient means to acheive clear-cut ends. You are highly independent, and continue on with your plans even in the face of data that might suggest to others that it's no longer feasible. Time alone is important and solitary activities refresh you. You have a tendency to introspection. In your desire for clarity in life, you may have the tendency of being remote or even "heartless". You try to schedule your life as much as possible. You tend to finish your work before resting.

As the foil to Aragorn, Sauron clearly embodies the evil side of this personality.

Traits: Pragmatic, autonomous, ingenious, resolute. On the dark side you could desire power and domination.

Which LOTR character are you?

Pffft, so I'm Aragon. But I promise you, I bathe. *tee hee hee*
Been pondering about it for days now and finally, I present My Top Fives for 2002:

Fav Albums of 2002
* A New Morning - Suede
* Beautiful Garbage - Garbage
* Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay
* Son of the Evil Reindeer - The Reindeer Section
* ( ) - Sigur Ros

Fav songs of 2002
* Untitled - Suede (A New Morning)
* Cherry Lips - Garbage (Beautiful Garbage)
* The Scientist - Coldplay (Rush of Blood to the Head)
* Mad World - Gary Jules (Donnie Darko OST)
* Across the Universe - Rufus Wainwright (I Am Sam OST)

(silent contender: The Greatest View - Silverchair)

Fav Movies of 2002
* Donnie Darko
* The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
* The Cat Returns
* Monsoon Wedding
* About A Boy

It's been a mish-mashed year of music and movies for me. Being away and stuff means having to wait ages for movies + music to make their way to Aussie Land. Aussie influence most evident in appearence of Greatest View O_O. I just happen to LOVE that song. So go away all you sniggering people. I have heaps more songs, but I don't think they are all that timely... I've made a few late discoveries and all, the clueless person that I am. *blush*

Watched The Cat Returns today. It was really enjoyable. Sweet and simple and the cats were adorable! Kawaii des ne! *giggles*
What's playing: Across the Universe - Cover version from the I Am Sam OST

Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing
Through my open ears inciting and inviting me.
Limitless, undying love, which shines around me like a million suns,
And calls me on and on Across the Universe

Which Garbage Song Are You?

brought to you by Quizilla

You are Milk. Daydream much? Completely dreamy and creative, you make a great artist.
Was out at the Esplanade (aka The Durian, aka Mutant Flies Eyes, aka These Singaporeans Are Crazy) with Redzman on Saturday. Managed to get some pix of the Lomo Wall exhibition before the digicam died on me. I'm trying out a new picture server... I hope this works...

Pictures of Pictures

My picture-taking skills sux0rs. I know...I can't help it, I must have been born with Fingerintheviewfinderists.
OKAY! I've made my new year resolutions. Sensible, achievable, fairly optismistic ones too. And no, I'm not telling. Tis bad luck to let everyone in on things like. People who 'care' can harass you into actually keeping them. *gasp*

Anyhoo... I had me a good NYE. It was quiet, familiar, comforting and homey. Much better than the noise and crowds and the screams of "oh-my-god-the-foam's-eating-out-my-eyes". Avoiding very bad live lip-synching and epileptic hip-swirling also bonus.

We tried counting the number of NYEs we've spent together and were stumped. I remember the first time I drank was at a NYE party. I think I was 13 or 14 when I had me my first cocktail .Then the subsequent years are filled with memories of April's cousins trying to get me drunk enough to marry them.

I didn't get drunk this year. So I didn't pass out at 12.03am, fall asleep on the floor or talk myself into a coma. This may be a good start to a tolerable year.
