Welcome to the 21st Century

And so it begins. Another time consuming obsession. Thanks to the cajoling of: Big D, Bunny Mcbunbun, Ju the Instigator, W and various "with it" people, I have succumed to (the addictive horrors of) Facebook (here after referred to as FB).

I officially feel very at peace with the world, but there's a smidgen fear that all my (pathetic amounts of) spare time will disappear into the blackhole of FB.

In other news my.feet.are.killing.me. It's not very smart to take a 6-km jog after a couple of days of abusing them with dancing (again) and lots of walking. Had a great Friday out Oosh and Butterfactory to celebrate Sid the MaoMao's birthday.

This is what girls do on a night on the town: POUT a lot and occassionally, look like a total idiot

Covered the passing of two bills in Parliament yesterday. And yes, I know it's an important part of my job and all, but Parly is B.O.R.I.N.G and I usually have to struggle to pay attention.

Now.

If it were peppered with fun things like this, I reckon I'd stay awake.

So so tired. It's been an eventful weekend: One wedding, a run and a funeral.

Update soon.

//Update

A friend got married on Sat and had a very pretty and whimsical wedding dinner at Fort Canning. In addition to the conventional stuff like the solemnisation and the champagne toast, she added some of her distinctive touches...

Run Like a Girl

Didn't do too shabbily on my first 10km marathon: 1hr 24min

Am absolutely knackered and will now collapse in a nice heap to sleep for a bit. So sore!

OMG I almost got run over today as I was walking home! Was crossing the road to the park on my usual route home when a car turned into the wrong lane and straight at me! If the driver (a lady) hadn't jammed the brakes on time, I would certainly have been hit. She had an apologetic look of horror on her face, and I think mine was screwed up in rage and fear as I yelled OI!!!! damn loudly, followed by a WHAT THE FUCK! Was trembling a little from the adrenaline that flooded my system cos of the shock. Geez.

D was proud of me on two counts. One that I wasn't kil't or run over and two, that I instinctively stretched my arm out in an attempt to punch the car. LOL.

How to drive a car lesson #05: When turning, turn into the same lane you are in, i.e, outer lane to outer lane, inside lane into inside lane. But more importantly, remember How to drive a car lesson #01: don't run people over

Grouses:

1) My Dr called my face pudgy yesterday. KNN

2) I had two slices of decadent chocolate cake today. CCB

3) I just found out some people at MOH know about "my blog" and now I'm paranoid that they know of this one and not just the kidney one. OMFG

4) I just realised I swear way too fucking much on this blog so if some one from the bloody ministry actually reads it, I am just in so much trouble. HELL!

5) I also record too many scandalous party times on this blog, which is probably bad publicity for a supposed workaholic. BUSTED!

6) I want another slice of cake and some noodles.

Heeeere fatty fatty fatty fatty fatty.

The night out at the fight was good yesterday. Fun. It really helped me understand why D nags me to keep my fists up. Owwie.

We watched a amateur fight, an Indo v Singapore aka eat the crap out of the little Singaporean dude show, two little Thai kids in a cute (but quite intense) choreographed fighting play and the actual Contender match - which I'm not allowed to speak about.

The first rule of Fight Club is - you do not talk about Fight Club.

Fight Night

D and I are going to a fight today. YEAH!!!! It's part of The Contender Asia reality TV series.
Meh. Whatever. I just wanna see people beat the crapm out of each other.

Had a damn weird conversation with D when I called him to ask is he was keen:

Me: Baby, do you want to go for a fight?
D: I'm not ready to fight professionally
Me: Huh? No, let's go to a fight
D: No, you're not ready to fight professionally
Me: Go watch a fight baby, not take part
D: Oh.

I have numb nubs where my toes ought to be, but I'm one happy cripple. Danced the night away with Ju at Butterfactory yesterday, as I was pleasantly high enough to brave the R&B shite and just get into the fun of things. It's been ages since Ju and I went clubbing and, as always, we had a real blast of a time, the shrieking banshees that we are.

First we had dinner at PS Cafe at Dempsey Rd, which is a bit over-rated. Was mildly disappointed at the so-so food. We had beef ragout, veal cheek pasta and moussaka, which were hearty, well presented and enjoyable (although the moussaka was a tad charred). The fries, paired with aoli was great, but otherwise the food was nothing to rave about. The ambiance was very nice and altogether, PS Cafe is a nice place to hang out at -- if one doesn't mind the inaccessiblity.

However, their desserts had a little more character. We shared a ginger pudding and a key lime pie, which were tops. We favoured the pie a little more as it was more refreshing end to our meal. The toasted coconut in the crust and garnish was the perfect partner for the zesty lime filling. The ginger pudding, which sat in a sinful pool of warm brandied caramel sauce and under a mound of vanilla icecream would have been the perfect winter treat paired with coffee.

After dinner and some trouble getting a cab, we attempted to raid the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but were turned away by guards. Evidently our sexy evening wear did little to faze the security personnel. Dang. So we made our way to Zouk, got turned off by the hordes of already drunk people (at 1030pm) and pools of puke, and headed to Butterfactory instead. There, we proceeded to drink a lot and dance like mad people, fending off lame pickup lines and advances by sweating people. Eeeeeyer.

Oh but I did meet a guy
from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts
-- here to open a Tisch Asia campus. My gopher sense kicked in for a bit before I bravely cast it aside and proceeded to have another drink, dance more, until my calf cramped on me and cried No More!

In a lovely turn of events, the cruisey week started early for me as I left work early and headed to HV to have dinner with my babby.

Then it was all girl gopher night at
2am Dessert bar with JM and CH where we stuffed our faces with the luscious and toothsome treats on offer. A warm oozing chocolate tart, a deconstructed cheesecake -- both paired with refreshing sorbets, open faced 'beef burgers' -- tender patties on focaccia, a piquant seafood linguine, and a bottle of sweet white wine

Divine!

And as an added treat, JM's friend, who opened the place, presented us with a scoop of green sorbet. It turned out to be BASIL and it was an eye-popping tastebud love affair. I absolutely love basil and turning it into icecream is pure genuis! *shudders in delight*

Today, I am taking my Day Off and I declare it to be filled with relaxing delights, yummy treats and great company.
