/agree

There is no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard

And no song that I could sing, but I can try for your heart
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things
Like a shoebox of photographs with sepia tone loving

Love is the answer
At least for most of the questions in my heart

Why are we here and where do we go
And how come it's so hard
It's not always easy and sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing
It's always better when we're together

Better than Disneyland

Had a second go at dialysis today at a private centre (no thanks to a major breakdown in liasioning activities between SGH and NKF. I have been in limbo for three days since tue's dialysis).

Without the nuisance of anaesthetic, I got the exquisite and undiluted experience of those needles again, PLUS the added entertainment of a fountain of blood arcing its way in a graceful shower of indescribable beauty. For three hours, my left arm was conveniently derived of feeling, save for the area of cannulation. After 3 hours, I got a nice reminder from my nerves telling me they were alive and well when they took the spokes out of my arm. SHIOK!

Indeed all this for the amazing price of $262.50!

Haha. Anyway. It's funny how people tell me that I'm taking this well. I don't suppose there is anyother way to take it, unless you count hysterical screaming. Which upon reflection does actually seem like quite a nice option.

I start with NKF on Tues. At Simei. Woopie!

On a happy note, (no sarcasm here), woopie for new subsidy rates! :) I'll be afford to EAT after all!

Happy note 2: Yellow coloured plasters with pictures of animals doing aerobics > gauze bandages ^_^

I'm home!

Just spent six days in the hospital after a scare on Friday. Woke up with a fever coupled with convulsive chills and mother dear panicked and sent me to the A&E after consulting with my renal doctor. Suffered one day of intense headaches and intermittent shivering; was boiling and freezing at the same time.

Apparently it was a UTI gone horribly wrong. But I am alright now... apart from the punctures in my skin from the IV antibiotics and the dialysis, which I started yesterday.

So yes, it's finally happened. Dialysis isn't so bad, apart from the scary looking needles which are HUGE (but slightly smaller than a yakult straw). That and the numbness that comes during the procedure. I tolerated the first session well - just did 2 hours - but was quite tired after. Not a bad thing cos I managed a good night's sleep in spite of the nightly kabuki* that goes on in my ward.

*Elderly woman in Bed 3 moaning, whining, mewling all through the day and night.

Call me callous but I have no sympathy for attention seeking types, stroke victim or not. 1) If you have the energy to moan and thrash you are not dying. 2) If you are on water restriction, moaning all day and night for water is not going to solve your problem with thirst. 3) It's not nice to feign sleep and wait for your poor maid to sleep and then wake her up the moment she hits REM.

Didn't think I'd say this but thank God for the dialysis. In addition to the regular programming from bed 3, there was an old lady having trembling fits in Bed 1 (poor thing would convulse and whimper), and someone vomiting/retching loudly in the next ward. But I was so tired I managed to sleep, my first full night's sleep in 5 days.

Silver lining in all this: got to see the guys :) who were very sweet and rounded up the gang to come visit. *touched*

My first attempt at making pizza wasn't a great success, the crust was too dry and pasty and the texture was all wrong. But that didn't stop the boys from demolishing six to eight 8-inch pies. Next time I'll try a different recipe... more yeast maybe... But before I do I'll need a break, pizza making is hella tiring. It took me a total of 3 hours to prepare the dough from scratch, giving it time to rise and putting together the pizza ingredients. Admittedly it was slicing the damn salami that tired me out most. Damn those things are hard!

Today I'll try to make onigiri, japanese rice balls. Should be easy. All i need to do is cook and prepare the sushi rice and open a can of tuna. My brother will want the fun of rolling his own balls. Hmmm that came out wrong. *ROFFLES*

Meanwhile I'm suffering from a URTI, upper respitory tract infection, which doesn't bode well as I am due for a renal checkup next week before I start dialysis. I don't really want to start dialysis - the thought of having to be hooked up to a machine for four hours, three times a week seems so debillitating. But starting dialysis is a good thing. Or at least I tel myself.

All I want to do is sleep

Feeling sickish these few days... Strange. I've been getting enough rest - at least 8 to 12 hours of sleep - a luxury I've been grateful for ever since I stopped work. But I still feel the weight of lethargy hang over me each day, even when all I do is stay home reading or watching anime. (Almost thorough with 12 Kingdoms and just finished Samurai Champloo).

Going out is a big strain, especially going to SGH for checkups. The 1.5 hour journey and the sometimes insane timing of 8.15am appointments just saps me for the rest of the day. It's all waiting around for about 10 minutes worth of consultation or tests.

Had my barium meal x-ray test last week. Bleah. Had to fast 6 hours before the test, so no customary glass of water for me when I woke up (6am) till the test, which started at 8.30am. It was torture on the MRT. The airconditioning dried out my poor mouth and my tongue felt like a withered sponge.

I was supposed to swallow some white granules but without water they just got stuck in the dry-sticky insides of my mouth and teeth. I had about a thimbleful of water to help them go down and they started to fizz and foam in my mouth. "Swallow! Swallow!" The gas was supposed to fill my stomach for a better view for the x-ray. I tried my best to swallow the gas/foam in my mouth which was pretty hard considering it tasted awful. Then I had to drink a barium solution which looks and smells deceptively like a strawberry scented vanilla milkshake but tastes like plaster or putty mixture. Bleah. I burped right into the container and splattered my face with the thick white viscous goop. Yeuch!

Luckily I survived and rewarded myself with a trip to Amoy St Hawker Centre for freshly-made chee cheong fun. They make the stuff on the spot, resulting in transclucent tender melt in the mouth steamed rice flour skins filled with fresh ingredients. I had fresh fish in mine, but the next time I'm having the prawn.
